NSE Sector Wheel - DonutThis script generates a donut‑style wheel chart overlaid on a price chart. Its purpose is to visually compare the relative price movements of 16 major NSE (National Stock Exchange of India) sector indices. The size of each donut slice represents the absolute percentage change of that sector over a selected intraday timeframe (relative to the previous day’s close). A legend table next to the donut shows the sector names and the signed percentage change (green for positive, red for negative). The chart is static – it appears fixed on the screen, anchored to the last bar, and does not scroll with the price chart. User Inputs: The script provides two adjustable inputs: Timeframe – The intra‑period used to fetch the current closing price for each sector (e.g., “3” for 3 minutes, “60” for 1 hour). The previous day’s close is always taken from the daily timeframe. Horizontal Offset – A number of bars (default 60) that shifts the donut chart horizontally to the right from the last bar. This prevents the wheel from overlapping with price action. Data Sources – NSE Sector Indices The script tracks the following 16 sector indices (represented by their TradingView symbols): IT (CNXIT) Pharma (CNXPHARMA) FMCG (CNXFMCG) Energy (CNXENERGY) Media (CNXMEDIA) Metal (CNXMETAL) Auto (CNXAUTO) Private Bank (NIFTYPVTBANK) Infrastructure (CNXINFRA) Consumption (CNXCONSUMPTION) PSU Bank (CNXPSUBANK) Services (CNXSERVICE) Realty (CNXREALTY) Oil & Gas (NIFTY_OIL_AND_GAS) Midcap (CNXMIDCAP) Finance (CNXFINANCE) Calculations:- For every sector, the script performs two distinct calculations using the chosen intraday timeframe and the daily previous close: Absolute percentage change – The absolute value of the percent difference between the current intraday close and the previous day’s close. This value determines the angular size (weight) of the slice in the donut chart. It is always non‑negative. Signed percentage change – The actual percent difference (can be positive or negative). This is used only for display in the legend table, where positive changes appear in green with a “+” sign and negative changes in red. The script sums all 16 absolute percentage changes to obtain a total movement value. Each sector’s slice angle is then computed as: slice angle = (sector’s absolute change / total movement) × 360° If the total movement is zero (no change in any sector), all slices receive an equal share of 22.5° (360° / 16). Donut Chart Rendering The donut chart is drawn only on the last bar of the chart (the most recent completed bar). On each new bar, the previous frame’s polylines and labels are deleted and redrawn from scratch. Fixed Position: The wheel is placed at a fixed chart coordinate that does not move when the user scrolls left or right: Center X = last bar index + horizontal offset Center Y = 50 (fixed vertical position, using the chart’s percentage scale from 0 to 100) Inner radius = 20 units Outer radius = 38 units Because the Y‑axis is artificially fixed by two invisible plotted lines at 0 and 100, the donut remains at the same vertical position regardless of price levels. Drawing the Slices>>>>>>>>>> Each slice is drawn as a filled polygonal arc: The script calculates the starting angle and ending angle for the slice based on the cumulative sum of previous slice angles. It then generates a series of points along the outer radius (from start to end) and back along the inner radius (from end to start), forming a closed shape. The slice is filled with a predefined, distinct colour (e.g., blue for IT, pink for Pharma, orange for FMCG, etc.). A thin dark outline separates adjacent slices. Percentage Labels Inside Slices>>>>>>>>>> If a slice’s angular span is 14 degrees or larger, the script places a centered label inside the slice. The label shows the slice’s percentage of the total absolute movement (rounded to one decimal, e.g., “12.3%”). The label background is transparent, and the text is black. The position is calculated using the midpoint angle of the slice and the average of the inner and outer radii. Legend Table>>>>>>>>>>> To the right of the donut chart (positioned in the middle‑right of the chart window), the script draws a two‑column table with 17 rows (header + 16 sectors). Column 1 – Sector name, colored with the same colour as the corresponding donut slice. Column 2 – Signed percentage change, formatted to one decimal with a “+” sign for positive values. The text colour is green for gains and red for losses. The table has a dark background, a subtle frame, and uses a normal font size. The header row displays “NSE_Sector ” and “%”. Execution Flow >>>>>>>>>>>> On every bar, the script fetches the previous day’s close for all 16 sectors (once per bar, from the daily timeframe). It then fetches the current close for each sector using the user‑selected intraday timeframe. It computes both absolute and signed percentage changes.It calculates the total absolute change and the angular span for each sector. Only on the last bar: It clears any previously drawn donut slices and labels. It draws each slice as a filled arc, from the starting angle to the ending angle. For slices wide enough, it adds a percentage label. It builds or updates the legend table with the latest signed changes. The donut chart remains visible at the same screen location until a new bar forms, at which point it is redrawn with updated data. Practical Use: Traders and investors can quickly see which NSE sectors are moving the most (in absolute terms) during the selected intraday period – the larger the slice, the greater the movement regardless of direction. The legend table then reveals whether that movement was positive or negative. This helps identify sector rotation, emerging strength or weakness, and relative volatility among Indian equity sectors. CONSISTENCY SCORE This metric shows what percentage of time periods show positive RS . For STOCKS (with Industry data): Counts both Sector RS periods AND Industry RS periods (up to 8 total periods): - If a stock beats both sector and industry in all 4 periods each: Consistency = 100% (8/8) - If it beats in 6 out of 8 total periods: Consistency = 75% - If it beats in 4 out of 8 total periods: Consistency = 50% For OTHER ASSETS: Counts benchmark periods only (4 total): - If it beats benchmark in all 4 periods (1M, 3M, 6M, 1Y): Consistency = 100% - If it beats in 3 out of 4 periods: Consistency = 75% - If it beats in 2 out of 4 periods: Consistency = 50% Why consistency matters: A high RS Score with low consistency might indicate a recent spike that could fade. The best stocks show both high RS Score AND high consistency - they're strong now AND have been strong historically at both the sector AND industry level. Look for stocks with: Consistency above 75%: Very reliable strength across all levels Consistency 50-75%: Decent but check other metrics Consistency below 50%: Weak or erratic, proceed with caution 7. BETA CALCULATION (Volatility Measure) Beta measures how much more volatile your stock is compared to its sector. Beta > 1.2 : High volatility - stock moves more aggressively than sector (marked as "High") Beta 0.8-1.2 : Normal volatility - moves roughly in line with sector Beta < 0.8 : Low volatility - stock is more stable than sector (marked as "Low") Formula used: Beta = Correlation(Stock, Sector) × (Standard Deviation of Stock / Standard Deviation of Sector) This uses a 20-period calculation for reliability. How to use Beta: - High Beta stocks offer bigger gains but also bigger risks - good for aggressive traders - Low Beta stocks are more defensive - good for conservative positions - Match Beta to your risk tolerance and strategy 8. DAYS ABOVE/BELOW SECTOR This tracks consecutive periods (bars) where your stock outperforms or underperforms its sector. Days Above Sector: Counts how many bars in a row your stock has beaten the sector. 10+ days: Strong sustained strength (shown in bright green) 5-9 days: Building momentum (shown in yellow) 1-4 days: Early strength (shown in white) 0 days: Not currently outperforming Days Below Sector: Counts how many bars in a row your stock has lagged the sector. 10+ days: Sustained weakness (shown in bright red) 5-9 days: Losing momentum (shown in orange) 1-4 days: Minor weakness (shown in white) 0 days: Not underperforming (this is good!) Why this matters: Long streaks show trend persistence. A stock with 15+ days above sector is riding strong momentum. A stock with 15+ days below sector is in a sustained downtrend relative to peers. 9. PRICE VS 52-WEEK HIGH Shows where current price sits relative to its 52-week high (or equivalent for your timeframe). 95%+ (green) : Stock is near all-time highs - strong positioning 80-94% (yellow) : Stock is in a pullback but still relatively strong Below 80% : Stock has pulled back significantly from highs Why this matters: The strongest stocks stay near their highs. When you see a stock with high RS Score AND price near 52W high, you've found a stock with institutional support and strong buying pressure. 10. RELATIVE VOLUME Compares current volume to the 20-period average volume. 1.5x+ (green) : High volume - significant interest and participation Around 1.0x : Average volume - normal trading activity Below 1.0x : Low volume - less interest or inactive period Why volume matters: High relative volume confirms price moves. When a stock makes a strong move on 2x or 3x normal volume, it's more likely to sustain. Low volume moves are often just noise. 11. AVERAGE RS STRENGTH This calculates the average absolute value of all RS readings across the four timeframes. It shows the magnitude of divergence from the sector, regardless of direction. A high number means the stock moves very differently from its sector (could be much stronger or much weaker). A low number means it tracks closely with the sector. High Average RS: Stock has strong character, moves independently Low Average RS: Stock follows sector closely, lacks individual strength 12. SECTOR ROTATION SIGNAL This indicator automatically detects when a sector is experiencing bullish rotation - meaning money is flowing into the sector and it's outperforming the broader market. Condition for bullish rotation: Sector must be beating SPY (market) in both 1-month AND 3-month periods. Why this matters: Stocks in hot sectors tend to perform better because they have tailwinds from sector-wide buying. When sector rotation is bullish and your stock has a high RS Score, you've found an ideal setup. The indicator adds +5 bonus points to the RS Score when sector rotation is bullish. 13. MOMENTUM DETECTION The indicator compares 1-month RS to 3-month RS to detect if momentum is improving or declining. RS Momentum Improving: 1M RS is better than 3M RS - stock is getting stronger (adds +5 to score) RS Momentum Declining: 1M RS is worse than 3M RS - stock is getting weaker (subtracts -5 from score) Why momentum matters: You want to catch stocks as momentum is building, not after it's already peaked. Improving momentum suggests the strength is accelerating, not fading. 14. OVERALL ASSESSMENT & RECOMMENDATION The indicator provides two quick summary rows: Overall Rating: Based on grade and RS Score, you get an instant quality rating: Strong Leader (A/A+) - Top tier stock, crushing it Above Average (A-/B+) - Solid performer, better than most Average (B/B-) - Middle of the pack Below Average (C/C+) - Struggling, watch carefully Underperformer (D/F) - Weak stock, underperforming badly Trading Signal: Combines multiple factors to give setup quality: STRONG BUY SETUP - RS Score 70+, Consistency 75+, AND sector rotation bullish. This is the perfect storm - strong stock, consistent strength, hot sector. BULLISH - RS Score 60+, Consistency 50+. Good quality stock worth considering. NEUTRAL - RS Score 50+. Okay but not exciting, better opportunities exist. WEAK - RS Score 40-49. Below average, risky. AVOID - RS Score below 40. Stay away, too weak. Sector Relative StrengthDescription This script compares sector performance relative to the S&P 500. Sector price levels or charts alone can mislead, because they tend to move with the broader market. An increase in a sector’s price does not necessarily indicate strength, as it may simply be following the index. For more a more reliable picture, the script calculates a ratio between each sector ETF and SPY. If the ratio has increased, the sector has outperformed the index. In case it has declined, the sector has underperformed. If the value is near zero, the sector has moved in line with the index. The sectors are presented in a table and sorted on relative performance. Calculation Method The performance is expressed as a percentage change in the ratio over a user-defined lookback period. The default lookback is set to 21 bars, which corresponds to one month on a daily chart. This value can be adopted in the settings to match preferred time period. Z-Score In addition to the percentage change, the script calculates a Z-score of the ratio, which measures how far the current value deviates from its recent mean. A high positive Z-score indicates that the ratio is significantly above its average, while a negative value indicates it is below. This normalization allows for comparison between sectors with different price levels or volatility profiles. Table Columns - Relative %: The sector's performance relative to SPY over the selected lookback period - Z-Score: Standardized measure of current performance ratio is relative to its average - Trend Arrow: Indicates the direction of relative performance up down or flat Example Interpretation For example, if XLK shows a 3.7% change, it has outperformed SPY over the selected period. Another sector might show a -2.1% change, which indicates underperformance. While both values shows relative strength or weakness, the Z-score is optional and can provide additional context based on how unusual that performance is compared to the sector's own recent behavior. Use Case This approach helps evaluate overall market conditions and supports a top-down method. I have used RSI and MACD calculation and put it across 5 different index. Color shows bullishness and Gray shows weakness. You can select RSI or MACD or Both to have calculation. And you can also compare stocks if you want. Note: Use it for Medium / Long term investment. Can not be use for Intraday. Happy investing !!

S&P 500 Sector Strength IndexHi traders , this is lonelygrass again 😄, and I am going to show what you don't often see out there and share it with you. This indicator is called "s&p 500 sector strength index"😎 , which allows you to distinguish strengths and weaknesses between different sectors in s&p500, and to create meaningful trading frameworks around it. Similar to the RSI indicator , it also has overbought and oversold levels , you can clearly figure out the degree of crowd behaviors in various sectors' stocks . For me 🤣, I will use it to "BUY LOW⬇️ , SELL HIGH⬆️". When a sector is oversold at the moment, I will try to buy those stocks when I find price actions and chart patterns in comply with the analysis by this indicator , the opposite for shortselling. Also, for sake of being more user-friendly 👍, I added a function which enables you to only select the sector(s) you want to look at in order to make it less messy.
