Oct. 14 Advanced Micro Devices AMD shares climbed about 2% to $220 on Tuesday morning trading after the chipmaker said Oracle ORCL Cloud will deploy 50,000 of its AI accelerators as part of a major artificial intelligence infrastructure expansion, according to a Tuesday press release. Oracle shares slipped roughly 2%.

The companies are deepening their collaboration to support new AI superclusters within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The systems will use AMD's Instinct MI450 Series GPUs and Helios rack architecture, which are designed to deliver high performance and scalability for advanced AI training and inference workloads.

Oracle plans to begin installing the GPUs in the third quarter of 2026, with expansion continuing in 2027 and later years. The partnership builds on more than a decade of cooperation between the firms, covering AMD's EPYC processors and Instinct accelerators.

The announcement reinforces AMD's growing role in powering enterprise-scale AI systems as demand for high-performance computing remains strong across the industry.
