In terms of wages, the average hourly wage in April rose by 0.5% month-on-month or 16 cents to US$33.36, exceeding market expectations; it rose by 4.4% year-on-year, also exceeding market expectations of 4.2%. After the release of the non-agricultural data, gold plummeted by more than $30 in the short term to around $2004 per ounce.
